Welcoming A New Phase

How to Work with the New Moon to Set Your Intentions

The New Moon is a special time when the Sun and the Moon occupy the same position in the cosmos, always coinciding with the monthly zodiac birth sign. This week, we're experiencing the Cancer New Moon. Cancer is a sign of intuition, self-care, feminine power, and deep nurturing. This new moon, more than ever is a call to put yourself first and honour your own needs and desires.

Depending on where the Moon is during the cycle, the Sun’s light is reflected by the Moon's surface, this is how we see it. The Moon’s phases are caused by rays of sunlight hitting it at different angles during the transit. During the New Moon phase, the Moon sits between the Earth and the Sun. It is backlit which is why it appears invisible from Earth.

It’s a time for reflection and interception

This is an invitation to step back and pause. It's an opportunity to realign with our values and ponder our purpose as we prepare to sow new seeds of intention about how we choose to move forward. The Moon takes about two weeks to wax and return to fullness, symbolising change and nudging us to choose to live more mindfully, in harmony with our own needs and desires.

It is also a beautiful reminder to honour the ebb and flow of life and our inner seasons.

Journal Prompts for the New Moon

Use this time to nurture yourself, replenish your energy, and renew your intentions. There is always the possibility of beginning again. Remember, you’re allowed to change your mind and the direction you are going in.

If you're feeling inspired to embrace this phase of renewal, I encourage you to explore these journal prompts:

  1. What has felt good over the past few weeks and months?

  2. What has left you reeling or feeling stuck, is there something that needs your attention?

  3. How are you taking care of yourself right now?

  4. List the things, people, experiences, and places that inspire you, make you feel valued, and leave you feeling replenished.

  5. How do you feel when you are most rested, most connected, and believing in yourself?

  6. How can you weave more "snippets" of self-care into your daily routine?

Start small, let go of perfectionism, and trust in the simplicity of self-care

What has revealed itself to you from these reflections? Remember, self-care doesn't have to be complicated or time-consuming to be effective. The simplest acts of kindness and presence can profoundly impact our well-being.

When Did Taking Care of Yourself Become So Hard To Do?

A common belief is that self-care is self-indulgent or selfish when it really isn't. Self-care simply means taking care of yourself as you would anyone you love. Imagine if you poured the same amount of love and positive energy into yourself that you did for everyone else.

The purpose of practicing self-care is so you can be the healthiest, fullest version of yourself.

Creating space for you to pause and reflect is what replenishes me, feeling the shared energy of intention and self-connection is a powerful thing. You feel it too. Connecting with yourself and your heart's desires can feel liberating and grounding at the same time.

This is my intention for our next retreat on 14th September, to create a calming Dreamscape for you to honour what you’ve experienced and reap all the goodness from the previous seasons. Claim your space and carve out time in your diary, having something to look forward to can ease us through the tough times my friend. I’ve created a pay-in-3 option to make it easier for you to join us too.

Big love,

Becki x
