The healing power of sound!
I remember rocking up to my first sound healing session in a cosy studio somewhere in Clapham pretty sure I was paying to have a lie-down while listening to someone banged on some bowls, and I'm pretty sure that's what you might be thinking too, but as I lay there waiting to jump every time something was clanged I felt a wave of warmth down my arms with the most incredible sounds vibrating through my body... It was utter bliss.
Since we've been locked down and wellbeing is the top priority I was looking for a way to give myself some deep spiritual self-care when a friend recommended Tasha to me, founder of Solaris Sound Healing soI’ve been having remote 1:1 sound healing sessions with Tasha for the last few months and I’m completely hooked! To be in my own home while experiencing something so incredibly powerful is amazing. I'm snuggled in a blanket on my bed, candles and incense burning and after a few calming breaths I'm instantly at ease. Tasha’s energy is so warm and grounded I felt like I'd known her for years. What I didn't expect, but loved, was the astrology lowdown and the pull of a tarot card at the start of our session, this was definitely a bit of me!
Tasha then guides me through a visualisation and as I follow her voice I feel like I'm sinking into the bed. Tasha works her tuning forks and descends through my chakras before immersing me in a sound bath with her amazing Himalayan singing bowls. Ooh, and the sound wasn't lost online if anything it felt more powerful with my headphones in!
Some days I see colours and images other times not and I’m always aware yet deeply relaxed, I feel both heavy and floaty at the same time. I emerge feeling dreamy and super calm as Tasha brings me to the present and the shift in my energy is always to a grounded state, depending on what’s going on for me I feel the shifts in my energy and emotions, for the better, throughout the following week. I love the space the sound healing opens up for me and the deep restoration it gives my body. There's even homework from these sessions; to take a long soak in a bath, however don't let the absence of a bath be an issue, I always opt for the indulgent yet frugal option... a foot bath!
Everything I share with Big Love is based on my experience and knowledge and this is why I am so passionate about the collaboration of yoga, breath and sound we'll bring you this weekend. This is my idea of the dreamiest way to unwind and find deep restoration which I believe we all deserve right now.
